Homescapes quality furnishings are designed to be loved and cherished forever. With mind to this, we are 100% committed to making sure that all of our loyal customers get the most out of their investment.

As experts in furniture care, we wish to share the knowledge and experience we have from 20 years of producing the highest quality furniture so the natural beauty of our solid wood pieces can be maintained and your lifetime investment can be protected.

Changes in humidity and temperature naturally cause small movements in solid wood structures. If this continues over a long period of time, it can eventually lead to warping of the wood. In order to protect against this, it is suggested that furniture should not be placed anywhere which is subject to excessive changes in temperature or moisture. We recommended that Homescapes solid wood furniture should not be placed in close proximity to radiators or air conditioning units to ensure the units retain their natural shape.

Part of the beauty of Homescapes furniture is the 100% wood guarantee, meaning no artificial finishes. In order to protect your new buy, several precautions are required;

  • Coasters should be used when dealing with hot or ice cold beverages to avoid ring marks and dining placemats should be used to limit heat damage.

  • Hot pads should always be used when placing hot serving dishes onto solid wood products, it is also recommended they are left to cool slightly first and are not piping hot.

  • Never place candles directly onto solid wood as the heat and leaking wax can leave lasting impressions on your table.

  • Ballpoint pens can leave lasting impressions on hardwood, so it is recommended that a protective pad is used.

Leaving solid wood furniture in direct sunlight can bleach the surface leading to uneven tones and premature dying of the wood. To reduce this effect, solid wood items should be kept out of direct sunlight.

Moving and handling

Dragging solid wood furniture is likely to lead to damage to joints. Whenever possible, moving of solid wood items should be completed by two people and lifted carefully.

Dealing with Spillages

All spillages should be mopped up using a lightly dampened cloth, moving in the direction of the grain to minimise the lasting effect on the wood.

If a solvent is spilled on the surface, be sure to blot the spillage immediately without wiping as wiping can allow the spillage to spread.

Ongoing Care

Homescapes recommend that all hardwood furniture is treated regularly with a high quality non-solvent wax to ensure they remain in peak condition for as long as possible.  Regular waxing also helps to develop the colour of our furniture products leaving you with a strong finish for longer.

Cleaning should be attempted using a soft lint free cotton cloth dampened with water or furniture polish always following the grain of the wood.  It is also important to use a light touch and rotate your cleaning cloth frequently.

Silicone products should not be used as they are prone to leaving a sticky residue on the wood surface once dried which is difficult to remove.
